Treatments

Remedial
A very specific form of bodywork, primarily for injuries or musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Remedial Massage involves postural assessment to isolate which muscles are not functioning as they should and to identify muscle and postural imbalances in the body. Techniques used include Myofascial Release (MFR), Trigger Point, Acupressure, Cross Fibre Mobilisation and Positional Releases. This is the form of massage therapy used to treat specific injuries and conditions. The therapist works within the needs and pain threshold of the client, however at times Remedial can be painful. The results though are worth the effort.

Swedish/Relaxation
The perfect treatment to unwind, de-stress and relax the whole body. Long flowing strokes improve blood flow and lymph drainage whilst easing you into a deep sense of Relaxation. This nurturing massage is excellent for anyone suffering from anxiety or just feeling a little low

Sports
A firm massage designed specifically for pre, post or during events. Most commonly a ‘training’ sports massage is required, a combination of all modalities to free up muscles and keep them at peak performance levels.

Deep Tissue
As the name suggests, a deeper form of bodywork very beneficial for people suffering from extremely tight muscles and with particular areas of tension or injury. Even though the massage is deeper the strokes are performed with care and always with the pain threshold of the recipient in mind. Deeper work can also be relaxing, it is the feeling of Good Pain. The deeper you work in massage the slower the stroke so we always ensure we are working with your needs in mind.

Trigger Point
Trigger point Therapy uses static pressure on sections of tight muscles (knots & trigger points) to affect the muscle, nerve and connective tissues. Generally used in conjunction with Deep Tissue techniques.

Structural Balancing
Part of a standard remedial massage, Structural Balancing identifies muscles or muscle groups that need to be either released or strengthened to take pressure off joints and keep the body’s correct posture. Any number of ‘tools’ are used, including Myofascial Release and Trigger Point Therapy.

Injury Rehabilitation
We use a combination of Remedial Massage ‘tools’ including Sports Massage, Mobilisations and Therapeutic Exercise and Stretch Therapy to help your body heal. Common conditions treated are muscle strains & sprains, sciatica, and muculoskeletal disorders such as Arthritis and Osteoperosis.

Body Maintenance
A combination of suitable treatment tools to keep your body free of aches & pains and in tip top condition. Specific treatment methods are tailored for each individual.

Stretch Therapy
The therapist can either teach you how to stretch specific muscles or movements, or can physically put your body through a passive stretching routine to free up any tight muscles.

Myofascial Release Therapy
MFR Therapy uses slow, deep techniques to address connective tissue dysfunction. Direct myofascial release seeks for changes in the myofascial structures by stretching, elongation of fascia, or mobilising adhesive tissues. The practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached. MFR therapy is an effective way of treating deep soft tissue, while causing the patient little or no pain.

Pregnancy Massage
Massage during pregnancy is great to relieve muscle tension which builds up as your baby grows and gains weight.. Lower back pain, hip and knee pain are all common ailments that can be gently soothed by the therapist, using lighter versions of the techniques discussed above. Only women in their 2nd and 3rd trimester can be treated, NO MASSAGE OF ANY DESCRIPTION CAN BE DONE BY OUR THERAPISTS IN THE FIRST 12 WEEKS OF PREGNANCY
